THE BOTTOM LINE WITH VR IN THE HIGHER ED SPACE
Unity
Research
Collaborate
Communicate

These four principles are what I was able to glean as necessities for further results in VR after attending SIGGRAPH. With ORU in mind I have to stress the need for someone to know Unity. The industry standard being Unity means that if we don't know how to create content in it then we wont move with the times.
Research in VR is at a high in Japan but a shortfall in Tulsa Oklahoma. It is being ignored for the lack of foresight of how it will change the world. Researches in Japan understand what can be. They have built robots, VR suits that cause you to feel the environment around you, and have a plethora of things too complicated for me to try and articulate.
Collaboration is simply taking ideas and discussing them with people. I met people that light up at the start of a VR conversation. There isn't a person in the world of VR that doesn't want to talk about what they have going on. With so many people developing on the levels that VR needs them to be it would be wise to collaborate with those going in the same direction.
Communication. Communication is key. We cannot ignore each others shortfalls or triumphs. I noticed that there were so many different types of technologies at the conference but the headway being made was short. everyone seemed to have a different version of something else. There seemed to be this "WOW" effect on everybody's faces when they noticed they all had the same stuff. I believe there is a lesson to learn here. If were to change the world, we cannot compete but we must improve the process. In the same way that we use the phrase, "We go from glory to glory" , we need to take the VR platform to the next level.
I am happy to say that Oral Roberts University does that exact thing. We are going to take the VR platform to the next level in Higher Ed. I believe that is a win for the VR space. The results we garnish will be a valuable asset to the extending of the VR culture. We will soon have a VR village of our own with people who burn and desire to use VR as they go out into every persons world.
